The Constitution of the United States is a statement of beliefs on moral issues. Laws are enacted based on interpretations of those moral standings. Though we can separate religious organizations from political organizations, we cannot separate the morals of politics from the morals of religion. While some would like to ground all legislation in science only, we cannot exclude morals from politics without ignoring the moral standings in the Constitution.
