Though some believe the Bible doesn't conclusively make a stand on abortion, it is clear from many other contemporary documents that the church that Christ established condemned the act.For example,The Epistle of Barnabas reads: "Thou shalt not murder a child by abortion, nor again shalt thou kill it when it is born." Athenagoras (A.D. 150-190) said: "Those women who use drugs to bring on abortion commit murder, and will have to give an account to God for the abortion."
Some religious and moral leaders today suggest leniency on abortion. The Lord has repeated His no-compromise stance in modern times by saying we shouldn't do anything that even resembles murder. If we believe this, the argument over when life begins is immaterial--even if the fetus isn't "alive" and therefore guaranteed constitutional rights, an abortion certainly resembles murder, and should be condemned.
