One popular philosophical belief is that a body is limiting, confining, and a burden. Rather than having a body, being everywhere and in everything and yet nowhere, or some variant of that image, is empowering and desirable. So prevalent has this philosophy of the exaltedness of a formless existence become, that it is difficult for most to accept the idea of God being our literal Father. After all, what does that really mean if God is a formless, incomprehensible being?
What is it about being a mass of no form that would be empowering? If God has a body, does that limit His power in any way? Rather, He has made a special point of giving us bodies, and sent His only Son to overcome death for the express purpose of giving us our bodies again. Bodies are not limitations. They empower us to become like our Heavenly Father, who has all wisdom and all power partly because He has a body.
