"Charity never faileth."
We often define charity as Christlike love. Pure charity isn't just like the love of Christ, it is the same love that Christ has. This kind of love truly will never fail, whereas lesser love is weakened by time, distance, disagreement, ingratitude, or betrayal.
Pure charity has been tested to its fullest extent only once, when the Savior performed His Atonement. In that act, Jesus Christ's suffering was infinite, yet he was still kind. Knowing His own power, he could have belittled His provokers, but instead He was as meek as a lamb being led to the slaughter. His desire was to relieve HIs own suffering, yet He sought not His own will. Only once has pure charity proven it can bear all things, and yet endure undiminished.

Vigilance is watchfulness, alertness, or attentiveness. Vigilance in working toward eternal life is most difficult during the easy times. When we have blessed for so long, then it is easiest to be less diligent. Not all self-esteem is created equal. Self-esteem is selfish when it is based in pride. This kind of self-esteem is actually detrimental to ourselves or others. Telescopes of the highest quality can see light from far, far away. Galaxies and other heavenly bodies previously unknown can now be seen. Some scientists speculated that since they could see nothing in certain places, there was nothing else to be seen. By making the telescopes more sensitive to different kinds of light, parts of the sky that had been blank filled with stars and galaxies. Scripture is inspired of God, but it isn't the words themselves that are true. Truth is found in the meaning behind the words. Because of this fact, many educated and scholarly opinions are formed--in contradiction to each other. They can't agree on what the scriptures mean in every case. When it comes to identifying the Lord's shepherds, the Lord has said "Ye shall know them by their fruits... A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit." Identifying the Lord's sheep can be more difficult. With so many sheep around--some from one flock and some from another--how can one find a sheep that's simply gone astray, or one that is trying to find his or her way into the Lord's flock? |
