It is impossible to live without faith. Faith in its broadest sense is simply a belief or set of beliefs. Unless a person has a perfect knowledge of every outcome that will result from every action, faith will be employed. Whether or not one holds to a belief in God, they act on faith on a daily basis.
As an extension of this truth, a claim that people have a fundamental right or privilege, such as a right to life or the right to a particular equality, is a faith-based claim. Science does not make these type of claims; indeed science cannot test these type of claims. Reason, sophistry, and belief are all employed to convince one another of such "fundamental rights." It is left to us to choose whether the claimed fundamental right truly exists, and what boundaries if any should be associated with that right. Whatever our choice on the matter, we are acting on faith.
