Agency, or our freedom to choose between good and evil, is one of the greatest blessings God has given us. But that freedom is limited. We cannot choose the consequences of our actions or how others will be affected by our actions. We also cannot choose to act in a way that is beyond our power. For instance, one cannot choose to play an immaculate rendition of a Mozart piece if he or she neplay an instrument. That person must choose to develop the talent and take the steps necessary to gain the power to make that choice.
Spiritual choices likewise require power. It is impossible to suddenly become as meek as Moses if one has little experience with humility or faith. A person may wish to be able to persuade another to come unto Christ, but may find their efforts ineffective if they are unfamiliar with the journey.
Thankfully, Heavenly Father has blessed us not only with agency, but also with the ability to improve our talents. The more we make correct and good choices, the more the boundaries on our agency expand. Their is no limit to how far we can push those boundaries back.
